FUNDRAISING CHALLENGES

Why fundraise for Children of the Mekong?
Unlike other charities, Children of the Mekong does not run large operations with heavy admin expenses. This guarantees that the funds raised will go to a specific education project and not to general expenditure.

Our projects aim to improve accessibility and quality of education for impoverished children in Southeast Asia. Your fundraising will have a huge impact in those children's lives. You will be given a specific project to fund, so you can share details and photos with your supporters. They know exactly where their money goes.
Your next step: choose your challenge!

London to Paris Cycle
Cycling from London to Paris is one of the great cycle experiences in Europe. Passing through picturesque Kent countryside, we cross the Channel and continue through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France, passing the famous battlefields of the Somme and Agincourt. With long days in the saddle and some strenuous hill-climbs, the sight of the Eiffel Tower, our finishing point, will evoke a real sense of achievement.
Our last day in Paris allows us to explore the streets of Paris and soak up the romantic atmosphere of this majestic city!

Ben Nevis Weekend Trek
The Scottish Highlands are full of enchantment with the ancient past all around. You will be overwhelmed by the increasing remoteness and the unspoilt environment as you leave the lowlands.
Ben Nevis (Gaelic translation ‘Mountain of Heaven’) itself is the highest point in the British Isles and stands at the lofty height of 1343m above sea level or about 4000ft in old money! Fort William, on the southern edge of the Great Glen, is the nearest town and is located on a sea loch, we set up base here.
Our Challenge takes us into the heart of the Nevis Range, a breathtaking mountainous land; our only goal is to reach the summit of Ben Nevis.

Trek to Angkor Wat
Lying in the heart of old Indochina, the small country of Cambodia is home to dazzling green rice-paddies and jungle dotted with temples and ruins, villages of thatched stilted houses, and small towns where Buddhist temples nestle amongst graceful French colonial buildings.
Our adventure starts in Siem Reap, ideally situated to explore the ancient capital of the mighty Khmer Empire. Our trek takes us off the beaten track, through paddy-fields, dense forest and villages little-changed for centuries to the Sacred Phnom Kulen - the highest point for miles at 487m.
This is a hot and dusty challenge but our finish point at Angkor Wat, one of the most impressive sights in South-East Asia, will reward your efforts.

Ho Chi Minh to Angkor Wat Cycle
Cycle through beautiful rural landscapes dotted with ruins of ancient civilisations and small towns where Buddhist temples nestle amongst graceful French colonial buildings and ramshackle houses.
Our challenge takes us from Vietnamese Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City, through the rice-paddies and waterways of the beautiful Mekong Delta into Cambodia. We pedal on through this friendly country towards one of the most impressive sights in Southeast Asia, the Royal Temples of Angkor Wat.
We encounter some rolling hills, but the main challenge lies in the long, hot dusty days in the saddle as we cycle through these remote areas. Fascinating insights into the region’s cultures, ancient and modern, are a real highlight of this challenge.
